Amigos Por Vida Friends for Life began in 1999 in Houston’s Gulfton community, where families, educators, and neighbors came together around one shared belief that every child deserves access to an excellent education and the opportunity to thrive.
What started as a small school grew from the strength, trust, and aspirations of the community it serves. Since then, Amigos Por Vida has continued to expand, moving to its permanent campus in 2008, growing its learning spaces, and creating a seamless educational pathway for students through eighth grade.
Amigos Por Vida means Friends for Life, a name that reflects who we are, a school built on relationships, family, opportunity, and a deep commitment to the next generation. Today, our purpose remains the same, to meet students where they are, surround them with support and high expectations, and empower them to reach their fullest potential.
Our mission at Amigos Por Vida Public Charter School is to empower our students to become life-long learners and achieve academic and personal success, by providing an excellent education in a safe environment. “Responsible, Respectful, Ready!” is the backbone of our learning approach!
