Self-Injury/Harm Awareness Day is a global observance aimed at raising awareness about self-harm and self-injury. This day encourages communities to come together to break the silence, dispel myths, and provide support to those affected by self-harm.
It also highlights the importance of understanding and compassion when addressing this sensitive issue, fostering environments where individuals can seek help without fear of judgment.
SIAD is celebrated annually on March 1st, a powerful day for advocates, parents, educators, and healthcare professionals to come together and passionately raise awareness about self-harm and its underlying issues.
How can we support this initiative?
• Educate Yourself: It’s important to learn about self-harm, its causes, and the best ways to support those who are affected.
• Spread the Word: Sharing information on social media, in schools, and within our communities can really help raise awareness.
• Wear an Orange Ribbon: Wearing an orange ribbon, which symbolizes self-harm awareness, shows your support and can encourage important conversations.
• Attend or Organize Events: Participating in or organizing workshops, seminars, and discussions is a great way to foster understanding and outreach.
• Be a Safe Space: Creating a nonjudgmental environment where others feel comfortable sharing their experiences or seeking help can make a significant difference.
Parents:
During the month of March, I will be giving a classroom presentation to students from 5th to 8th grade.
I will also be hosting a parenting session on Thursday, March 20th, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on TEAMS.
Please make an effort to join me.

Parents, please take some time to read this important information about lice. I want to emphasize the importance of checking your child’s hair for lice, especially in the lower grades. It’s crucial that we all take responsibility for our children’s well-being. I have noticed some children are being treated while others are not, which is unfair to those who are being diligent. Let’s work together to ensure a healthy environment for all our kids.
**if your child has a notice regarding lice in their folder, it means I have checked their head and observed the presence of lice. I encourage you to take the necessary steps to address this issue promptly to ensure your child’s comfort and the well-being of their classmates. **

Good morning, families.
Please see the information and why National School Choice is a great campaign and initiative for parents.
Every child deserves a quality education. National School Choice Week (NSCW) informs, inspires, and empowers parents to discover the K-12 education options available for their children, including traditional public, public charter, public magnet, online, private, and homeschooling. It will take place from January 26 to February 1, 2025.
Every January, tens of thousands of schools, organizations, and individuals plan unique events and activities to promote effective education options in their communities. These efforts highlight the importance of opportunity in K-12 education.
The organization is positive, inclusive, and fun. We help families find schools and learning environments where their children can learn, thrive, succeed, and be happy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl92fWBzod0&t=2s
Today is National School Choice Day, and it’s a special day for our school. Our district project is to be done at home – Families and students will be working on a project to share why they chose APV-FFL Charter School District over other schools.
Monday:
Today is Expressing Kindness!
What does that mean?
Expressing kindness is a way to be helpful and considerate without expecting anything in return. It can be a simple act, like smiling at someone, or a more involved act, like helping a colleague, a classmate, a friend, or even someone we don’t know.
Here are some ways to express kindness:
• Be a good listener: Listen to others and be there for them
• Offer to help: Help a neighbor with chores or errands or offer to babysit
• Send a note: Send a handwritten note, card, or flowers to a friend or family member
• Donate: Donate old items to a shelter or library
• Be generous: Share your knowledge, a recipe, or herbs from your garden
• Be polite: Say please and thank you, and let others go first
• Be kind to strangers: Buy a sandwich for someone asking for money, or pick up trash
• Be positive: Expect good things to happen and be in a positive light
• Check in: Call or check in on a friend or neighbor who might be going through a hard time
• Compliment others: Smile at others and compliment them
Kindness can be a quality that you cultivate and can be free and health-enhancing.

Good afternoon, parents,
Our first session on Human Trafficking took place today at 5:00 PM. Unfortunately, attendance was relatively low, but I would like to thank the parents who were present. Human Trafficking is a critical issue that directly affects our community and our families.
It is essential to raise awareness about what Human Trafficking is and the various types of trafficking that exist to protect our loved ones. I encourage you to participate in our upcoming sessions.
On Thursday, we will discuss Forced Labor and Domestic Servitude. On Friday, we will address the serious topics of Organ Trafficking and Trafficking in Persons for Organ Removal.
Please see the attached information to this post.
Please join us!
