Good evening, Colleagues
Please join us in sending a sincere thank-you to our wonderful friends at the Christian Community Service Center- Louise J. Moran Vision Care Program and the University of Houston – Eye Institute.
The representatives from the CCSC conducted the primary eye screening and based on their results, 70 students were given the opportunity to visit the University of Houston and be assessed by the ophthalmologist and optometrist. Today, 35 of them received the glasses they urgently needed. Parents, if your child is among the recipients, please take the time to discuss with them the importance of gratitude and the need to take care of their glasses.
Thanks to the kindness of these agencies and programs, your child can now see more clearly, has a significantly increased chance of academic success, and has improved confidence in life, along with the wonderful chance to experience vision.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Bernal

Dear Parents or Legal Guardians,
We want to remind you of the importance of using the crosswalk (the “zebra”) when picking up your children. We have observed that some parents are picking up students in the middle of the street, posing a serious risk to everyone and violating the law.
Please help us keep our students safe by following traffic rules and using designated crosswalks. Your example is crucial for them to learn how to cross safely.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to the safety of our school community.

Good morning, Parents
Thank you for supporting the “Pink Day” as a method to raise awareness of breast cancer. We hope you find this information useful.
• Breast Cancer Awareness Month, celebrated every October, serves a vital purpose in fostering awareness, promoting early detection, and supporting individuals impacted by breast cancer. Here are some key reasons why this month is so valuable:
• **Early Detection: **
• Breast cancer remains the most prevalent cancer among women worldwide.
• – Identifying the disease early through screening methods like mammograms can greatly enhance survival rates.
• Breast Cancer Awareness Month emphasizes the necessity of regular screenings and encourages women to speak with their healthcare providers about risk factors and available screening options.
• **Education and Awareness: **
• This month offers a wonderful chance to educate the public about breast cancer, its symptoms, risk factors, and treatment possibilities.
• – It also shines a light on the importance of healthy lifestyle choices that may lower breast cancer risk, such as maintaining a healthy weight, engaging in regular physical activity, and reducing alcohol intake.
• By enhancing knowledge and understanding, individuals are empowered to take proactive preventive measures.
• **Support and Advocacy: **
• Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings attention to the experiences of survivors, caregivers, and those undergoing treatment.
• It promotes research support, access to quality healthcare, and emotional well-being for everyone affected.
• The month also aims to raise funds for organizations that provide essential support services, including patient navigation, counseling, and financial aid.
• **Reducing Stigma: **
• Navigating discussions around breast cancer can be sensitive and challenging. Breast Cancer Awareness Month plays a crucial role in breaking down stigmas and fostering an open, supportive environment for those affected.
• By sharing personal stories and raising awareness, this month encourages conversations about breast cancer and inspires individuals to seek help when necessary. (Information gathered from various sources- internet)

Good morning, Parents
Happy Red Ribbon Pledge Day.
Today is the day that APV-FFL takes a stand against drugs and bullying. we encourage you to have conversations with your child/children about the importance of being committed to living a healthy and positive life.
The Red Ribbon campaign and its associated pledge began in 1985 after the murder of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena.
• While investigating a drug trafficking ring in Mexico, Camarena was abducted, tortured, and killed.
• In response to the tragedy, Camarena’s friends and family began wearing red ribbons to honor his memory.
• The symbol was adopted by parents’ groups and anti-drug coalitions, and the pledge to live drug-free became a way to honor his sacrifice and continue his fight.
• The National Family Partnership (NFP) formalized the tradition into the first National Red Ribbon Week in 1988.
The Red Ribbon Pledge is important because it is a public commitment to a drug-free lifestyle that creates a unified message against substance abuse. Rooted in the sacrifice of a fallen DEA agent, the pledge raises awareness, encourages personal responsibility, and fosters community engagement in drug prevention.

Good evening, Walker Parents
I hope you are doing well.
I wanted to send a friendly reminder about our pick-up procedure to ensure order and safety at all times.
Please remember that all parents must adhere to the designated pick-up times and follow the procedure for forming a line. This is essential as we wait for all students from Pre-3 to 3rd grade to be ready for pick-up.
Once all classes are ready, we will give a signal for parents and family members to pick up their respective children. The only exception to this rule will be students who, for medical reasons, need to be picked up at the front office. Otherwise, we kindly ask that all parents form the line and follow the dismissal procedures.
All our employees are instructed to follow these procedures. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
With much gratitude,

Fall Festival Campaign
Good morning, APV-FFL Parents
We hope you and yours are in good health.
This message is for our donation request for our upcoming Fall School Festival. We request a minimum donation of $3.00 per student to cover various expenses related to our upcoming event.
Our Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Parents have always played a vital role in the event, such as selling food. In the past, we have requested food donations; however, due to the rising cost of food, we believe that with your generosity and love for our school, you will support us by sending your donations, and we can have a safe, festive, and beautiful festival for everyone to enjoy with their loved ones.
All donations will be collected starting tomorrow. Please submit your student’s minimum donation of $3.00 to be given to their teacher. Collection will begin tomorrow and end on Thursday of this week.
Parents, we need your monetary contribution. We will also be asking for help on the day of the event, including cooking and helping us on the day of the event. For the Fall Festival, all volunteers are welcome, even if they are not approved volunteers at the school.
We appreciate your support as a responsible member of the APV-FFL community and look forward to your contributions.

We invite you to call us or visit our office to register. The GED classes will be held four days a week and will cover English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. These subjects are designed to prepare you for the state test and help you graduate with your diploma.
Thank you!

Good morning, Parents
We hope you are in good health.
We are excited to invite you to participate in our ESL and GED after-school program! As you mentioned in the surveys, this program is something you want, and we’re thrilled to make it happen. However, we would truly appreciate your support.
Our dedicated teachers are ready and eager to assist, but we currently have limited parents enrolled. Please reach out to us this week; learning English would make a big difference in your life and in the lives of your children. Together, we can create a supportive environment for our students. We are also offering GED classes, and we know that many parents can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity, as you can prepare for the High School equivalent.
Don’t let the savings deposit be an impediment for you to attend the classes; remember, it is just a gesture of your commitment to yourself and your academic growth. The deposit is completely refundable with perfect attendance.
Please support us by supporting yourself.

Parents, this is a tremendous opportunity for your girls to participate. The club will be offered to Middle school girls only, and it aims to equip young girls with essential skills to resist the pressure to engage in harmful substance use. We would be delighted to welcome your daughter to participate in this wonderful program, and we want to make it accessible at no cost to you. We’re looking to have 25 girls join us.
